Dios, es una palabra proveniente del latín deus y este de la palabra original griega Theus (Teos).

 

Según el diccionario de Real Academia Española Dios es: Ser supremo que en las religiones monoteístas es considerado hacedor del universo.

 

Dios en la cultura hebrea

 

A diferencia del politeísmo que significa “muchos dioses” en la cultura hebrea (judaísmo) y su religión se profesa el monoteísmo es la creencia en la existencia de un solo Dios

 

Monoteísmo es la creencia de UN Solo Dios, la palabra está compuesta de los términos griegos monoque significa “uno”, “solo” y teos: Dios.

Por el contrario, politeísta es el que cree en dos o más dioses, el término también es de origen griego, Poly: significa “mucho” y teos: Dios.

 

El judaísmo es la más antigua de las tres religiones monoteístas, junto con el cristianismo y el islam, originadas en Medio Oriente, estas religiones son llamadas también “abrahámicas”.

 

Dios es una palabra genérica para referirse a un ser supremo, NO ES un nombre personal como lo es en la BibliaYahveh (YHVH) o Jesús.

 

NOTA: En la FE judía y cristiana; cuando se escribe la palabra Dios para referirse al creador (Yahveh), se escribe con la “D” mayúscula, lo mismo para referirse a Él con pronombres, ejemplo; Señor, Él, Su, Tu, Vos, etc.

Por otro lado, para referirse a otros dioses, entonces se escribe con “d” minúscula.

 

En el Antiguo Testamento escrito originalmente en hebreo, se prohíbe usar el nombre de Dios en vano.

 

“No tomarás el nombre del SEÑOR tu Dios, ,

porque Él no dejará sin castigo al que use mal su nombre.”

AT Éxodo 20:7

 

por eso en las Escrituras se usan diferentes palabras para referirse a Dios, como, por ejemplo: El, Elí, Eloha, Elohim, palabras hebreas que equivalen en español a Dios.

Otro término usado frecuentemente en las Escrituras es Adonai que significa “Mi SEÑOR”

 

NOTA: en contraste a la ley hebrea de “no usar el nombre de Dios en vano” esto es usarlo innecesariamente o en cosas sin importancia, muchos cristianos usan en el presente el nombre de Dios y sus equivalentes Jehová, Jesús, Jesucristo, etc., sin ninguna limitación.

 

 

 

El origen de la palabra “Dios”

 

NOTA: A pesar de que Cristo y sus Discípulos no hablaban griego, todos los textos originales, o por lo menos los más antiguos que existen del Nuevo Testamento se encuentran en este lenguaje, y debido a esto se usa comúnmente la palabra griega Dios.

 

Aunque se cree que varios libros del Nuevo Testamento pudieron haber sido escritos originalmente en hebreo o arameo, entre ellos los cuatro libros del Evangelio (Mateo, Lucas, Marcos y Juan) más los libros de Santiago, las Cartas de Pedro y Juan. [A]

 

Sin embargo; todos los escritos existentes se del NT encuentran en griego, debido a esto, las palabras equivalentes a “Dios” usadas en estos documentos son Theus y Kurios que fueron traducidas al latín como Deus y Dominus respectivamente, y posteriormente al español como Dios y Señor.

 

 

Dios y sus características

 

En general, creyentes y teólogos atribuyen y reconocen propiedades en Dios como omnisciencia (Sabiduría Absoluta), omnipotencia (Supremo), omnipresencia (Siempre presente), omnibenevolencia (perfecta bondad), simplicidad divina, y existencia eterna.

 

 

De acuerdo a las Escrituras: Dios es espíritu y verdad (NT Juan 4:24), Dios es uno, pero existe en tres personas: Dios el Padre, Dios Hijo y Dios Espíritu Santo (NT Mateo 3:16-17), Dios es infinito (NT 1 Timoteo 1:17), No cambia (AT Malaquías 3:6), es incomparable (AT 2 Samuel 7:22), misericordioso (AT Salmos 103:8) lo sabe todo (AT Salmos 147:5, Isaías 40:28), Existe en todas partes (AT Salmos 139:7-12) y tiene todo poder y autoridad (NTEfesios 1, Apocalipsis 19:6).

 

Dios es justo (NT Hechos 17:31), es Santo (NT1 Juan 1:5). Dios es amor (NTEfesios 2:4-5), es verdadero (NTJuan 14:6), Dios es compasivo (NT 2 Corintios 1:3), Dios juzga el pecado (AT Salmo 5:5), pero también perdona (AT Salmo 130:4, NT Juan 3:16).

 

En la persona del Hijo, Dios se encarnó (NT Juan 1:14), El Hijo de Dios se hizo Hijo del hombre y por lo tanto el “puente” entre Dios y el hombre (NT Juan 14:6), sólo a través del Hijo podemos tener el perdón a nuestros pecados (NT Efesios 1:7) y la salvación eterna (NT 2 Timoteo 2:10).

 

 

Dios Creo el Universo completo, incluyendo a la humanidad, Dios nos creó por una razón; Él quiere estar con nosotros y quiere que cada uno de nosotros para tener una vida plena y abundante aquí y la vida eterna con Él en el cielo.

 

 

 “De tal manera amó Dios al mundo, que ha dado a su Hijo unigénito,

para que todo aquel que en él cree no se pierda, sino que tenga vida eterna.”

NT Juan 3:16  

 

Por lo tanto, para saber realmente quién es Dios, todo lo que tenemos que hacer es mirar a Jesús.

 

“Hace tanto tiempo que estoy con ustedes, ¿y todavía no me conoces?

El que me ha visto a mí, ha visto al Padre; ¿por qué me pides que

les deje ver al Padre?”
